Elham Hassanzadeh leads the oil and gas law practice at Energy Pioneers. She has over 8 years post-qualification experience in legal matters related to the development of oil and gas sector in Iran, with a particular focus on the upstream oil and gas contracts and promotion and protection of foreign investment in Iran. Elham formerly was a legal associate at Dr. Behrouz Akhlaghi and Dr. Hassan Sedigh Law Firms where her work focused on upstream oil and gas transactions and LNG projects. She also holds advisory positions with the World Bank Group, the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) and International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
Elham has many publications on Iran’s oil and gas sector and is the author of “Iran’s natural gas industry in the post-revolutionary period”, published by Oxford University Press.
Elham holds an LLM Degree in international commercial law from University of Cambridge where she was a Shell Centenary Scholar and a PhD in oil and gas law and policy from Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee. She is a qualified lawyer in Iran and a member of Central Bar Association.
