Hamid Soorghali is a business development & strategy associate at Energy Pioneers, specialising in the economics, legal and policy aspects of the Middle East energy sector. Hamid works side by side of the management team to support and lead corporate business development initiatives in Europe and Asia, and liaise development of new services and solutions in the consulting division of the firm.
He utilises his niche knowledge of the MENA business ecosystem and energy industry to advise cross-sector international energy companies in developing their business and investment strategies, while navigate regulatory risks in MENA market, and particularly in Iran's re-emerging giant energy sector.
His previous experiences has involved working with London and Swiss-based advisory firms active in delivering strategic and commercial consulting services to complex political, economic and business environments in the MENA region. Hamid has also authored a number of publications on Iran’s energy sector, as well as on issues concerning geo-economic and geopolitical developments in the Middle East and Central Asia.
Hamid holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, University of London), and a Bachelor of Economics in International Politics from Aberystwyth University in Wales. Hamid has earned the prestigious Ken Robertson Prize, named after a distinguished historian for his academic contributions to the Centre for International Politics at Aberystwyth University.
